Brazil chooses its president
Brazil is the biggest country in South America. Most of the giant Amazon rainforest is there. People in Brazil speak Portuguese, and they love football!
Every four years, people in Brazil choose a president, the leader of the country. On Sunday 25 October, they voted.
Lula da Silva got just over 51 out of every 100 votes. Flávio Bolsonaro got about 48. So Lula won! He will be president for the fourth time. Two days later, he turned 81.
Flávio Bolsonaro said he does not agree with the result. When a vote is very close, people sometimes disagree. Countries have rules for checking the count.
In Brazil, people vote on electronic voting machines. They press a number on the machine and then a green button. India uses voting machines too!
In Brazil, most grown-ups between 18 and 70 must vote. Young people aged 16 and 17 can choose to vote if they want to.
